Supercopa de España: Spanish football returns at Camp Nou

FC Barcelona will be looking to officially start their journey with a win over their arch rivals Real Madrid as they play the first leg of Supercopa de España under new manager Ernesto Valverde tonight at the Camp Nou. Real Madrid look strong as compared to Barca seeing the circumstances, as Barca are just coming out of Neymar’s heavy transfer to PSG and new system under Valverde. Things are never easy for Real Madrid at Camp Nou, the recent European Super Cup winners know it better than any other team.

Barca will be looking to boost their confidence and prove a point infront of their home crowd tonight at the first leg, while The Blancos will be looking to seek a victory after Leo Messi stole the show last time they officially met at Bernabeu. The encounter will be absolutely delightful to watch, as Clasicos are regularly more than just two regular sides facing each other.

Team News

Barça will most likely start with the same team from the Joan Gamper Trophy against Chapecoense last Monday, with the only doubt being at right-back with Aleix Vidal and Nélson Semedo fighting for the spot. Thomas Varmaelen and Andre Gomes are out injured, while Arda Turan, Sergi Samper and Marlon Santos have been left out of the squad. Madrid are missing Luca Modric due to suspension and Vallejo due to an injury.

Gerard Deulofeu will lead the attack alongside Messi Suarez for Barca, while Rakitic, Busquests and Iniesta are ready to control the midfield for the home side.

Barcelona (4-3-3)

Ter Stegen; Vidal, Piqué, Umtiti, Alba; Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta; Messi, Suárez, Deulofeu

Real Madrid (4-3-1-2)

Navas; Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Modric, Casemiro, Kroos; Isco; Ronaldo, Benzema

The fact that we have to consider is : We still are developing under Valverde. Losing a Clasico is harsh, but if we do, it has to be at the Super Copa, not elsewhere. Facing the European Champions after couple of weaker teams will be a job to do. We won the last Clásico at the Bernabéu with terrible tactics and without Neymar. This time we atleast have a quality mind set. We’ll win tonight, we’ll conquer Spain!

Visca El Barça !
