FC Barcelona grabbed yet another victory under new manager Ernesto Valverde as The Blaugrana beat the English Red Devils 1-0 at the FedEx Field Arena. FC Barcelona successfully defended the lead provided by Neymar yet again as the Brazilian scored as the clocked ticked around 31 minutes mark. Barca were absolutely flaunting the first half, as the front three were constantly breaking through United’s defense. With comfortable control on the ball, Barca deserved the lead as Antonio Valencia gifted a ball from Messi to Neymar; who then scored with a great turn. Don’t know if he’s leaving or not, but at the moment he’s scoring some. Barcelona looked to patiently work the ball around over on the right wing and then feed it to Suarez to create some more goal scoring chances. Manchester United signed on couple of occasions, but were denied every time they went towards the Barca goal. The first half ended with David De Gea pulling off a magnificent save after Luis Suarez exploded with a scissor kick.
The second half saw Ernesto Valverde making 11 changes, the likes of Munir, Samper, Vermaelen and Denis Suarez getting much needed playing time. United however continued to post occasional threats, but were denied by the composed defense line that Barca executed with calmness. The ball flow was comparatively better as compared to the Luis Enrique era. Barca, having switched back to tiki-taka now will have to face Real Madrid in the next fixture of International Champion’s Cup.
